Good News, Bad News

Thanks for your well wishes as Cyclone Anthony approached the coast of Queensland.

The good news is that it passed quickly to the south of us with minimal impact on the area.

The bad news is that Cyclone Yasi is not far behind it. (The pink to red lines represent the destructive winds with the prediction being up to 200km per hour in the centre.)

This system has already been described as one of the biggest threats to ever menace our state.

It’s difficult to see how we’ll avoid this one. A disaster zone has been declared before it has even arrived.

To say we’re all feeling rather anxious is more than just an understatement.

  1. This one is freaking me out a bit, especially since mum has just arrived in mackay following the death of her sister.

Stay safe my friend.. Truly a case of battening down the hatches.. And as if queensland needs more trauma right now …

  2. Really thinking of you and yours.
I can imagine anxious is a rather big understatement.

  3. You and your family are in my thoughts. I anxiously watch news reports.
I guess you know better than I do what supplies you need to have ready close at hand. Good Luck!
    Hugs and strength from NZ.

  4. Thinking of you and hoping it is not as bad as you fear.

  5. Oh Tracey, what a start to 2011 this has been for QLD.
I will be crossing everything for you, and your family, and all your friends and neighbours.

  6. So sorry to hear that. I hope you will be fine.

  7. Uh oh. Fingers crossed that it dies down or drifts out to sea where it will die a quick death.

  8. Oh my goodness, keeping everything crossed you have another lucky escape … 2011 has certainly not come in quietly over there.

  9. Sending hopes and prayers that it is not too destructive – but that, no matter what, you and yours are safe.
